Stayin’ Alive

I am indeed one unique turkey, let me tell you why I would not make an excellent Thanksgiving meal. In reality, I’m too skinny. Besides, I taste awful. Furthermore, I’m too small.

In reality, I’m too skinny. I haven’t been eating much so there would only be a little bit of me to eat. So the best option would be to not eat me and become a vegetarian. Though, the second option would be to save me until next year when (hopefully) I get more plump. Just remember the saying, “eat a turkey and you will regret it.”

Besides, I taste awful. I know that because I tried eating myself and I tasted horrible. A cow named Bessy agrees with me. He thought I was grass and started nibbling me but then spit me out with drool all over me! Also, I accidentally stepped in horse dung the other day. So, I think you should leave me be this Thanksgiving.

Furthermore, I am too small. I probably wouldn’t be enough to feed a family. The turkeys in the coop always brag because they are taller than me. Also being small means I can finally win limbo in the turkey games. Maybe you can choose another turkey for this year.

Above all, I am NOT a great turkey to be eaten for Thanksgiving dinner.

Elf For Hire

Hey Mrs. Lantz, I heard you needed some help around the workshop. Well luckily I am here because I am an amazing elf for many reasons.

For starters, I am a great helper. I could either help you in the kitchen or help you set up the dinner table. Oh I almost forgot, making and wrapping presents are my speciality. If any elf is in need, I’ll be there. You can ask me to do anything (that is not dangerous) and I will do it!

Moreover, I could write letters for you. You never know if you get too busy you forget. I mean, I am great at writing letters and the proof is right in front of you (this is a letter)! Also, it would be great practice for my writing skills if I want to get into middle school. Plus, it would be a shame to see children didn’t receive a letter from the one who they admire most. They would be very disappointed. Which is why I can help with writing letters.

Another reason I am a good elf is I am a quick and quiet worker. As I said, wrapping presents are my speciality. I can wrap ten presents in four minutes. Also, because I am quiet, I could help you deliver presents. Sneaking in and out of the house will be no problem.

In fact, I am very funny. I will turn any frown upside-down. If Christmas spirit is low, I could boost it up once more with jokes. One of my most famous jokes is: what is the first thing elves learn in school? The elf-a-bit! Maybe, if we work hard enough, we could get done with presents early because everybody is jolly. Then we could have a party. I would be great use, especially on April Fools Day!

Similarly, I am kind. I’d be glad to share my feelings and listen to other elves’ feelings to make them feel better. But, even sometimes I am too busy to deal with elves. So, I could also make kindness rocks to help some elves. I mean doing a kind act is fun and it makes me happy seeing that others are happy.

Last but not least, I am creative. I have ideas that kids all over the world will love. I know that because last year I made a birdhouse with toothpicks and gave it to my cousin who is older than me. She still has it and loves it! Meanwhile, I would be glad to show the elves my designs. Also, I could teach them how to make my ideas. Almost all kids are up for new toys every year!

I know that there are many applications to choose from. I also know that you will choose the right elf to fill the empty spot. So, I will trust you. Meanwhile, a merry Christmas to you!

The Witch and the Frog

When I went to school that morning I noticed two things. The first is that my best friend Elisebeth is not here but For Elisebeth that is normal because she is probably just testing out one of her inventions. The second thing I noticed was that on top of my desk was a frog! Luckily I love animals so I didn’t scream like most people would have done. Instead I put the frog in my desk for now.

During our lunch and recess break I took Froggy (I named him Froggy on the way) down to the bathroom. In the bathroom Froggy immediately ripped a piece of toilet paper and jumped in a wet puddle and started to make wet footprints all over the paper. I was about to scold Froggy for making such a mess but when I looked at the paper once more I realised that Froggy had written something. She wrote “I am Elisebeth, when I came to school an evil witch turned me into a frog!”

At first I didn’t believe him but then I reminded myself that animals can’t write. So I made Elsebeth explain herself and in a nutshell she told me everything. She said that she made a teleportation device and when she was testing it, it worked and took her straight to school! Then as was going to the cafeteria to get an apple the witch saw her and turned her into a frog.

After Elisebeth explained everything, the bell rang so decided to help Elisebeth after school.

Once school ended, we went to Elisebeth’s garage (her machine making workshop), and thought about what we can do to turn her back. We tried everything we could including spinning while croaking “no more frog” and singing the abc backwards. Nothing worked. Then I got a brilliant idea, we could use the teleportation device to get to the witch. Elizabeth agrees so we thought where we wanted to go (to the evil witch) and off we went.

When I opened my eyes I saw a huge castle in front of me and Elisebeth croaking at me. I told Elisebeth to be quiet while we entered the castle. The plan was that we would find the witch, make her turn Elisebeth back, and then use the teleportation device to get back home. We found the witch baking a cake but she sure was beautiful. Even you would be mesmerized. Though, I didn’t let her beauty stop me. I saw the witches broom, so I took it. Then I marched into the kitchen and faced the witch. I demanded that she turn my friend back. She then started to laugh saying that she could turn me into a frog if I did not give her broom back. Instead I tighten my grip on it.

I realised she was powerless without her broom. So, I said I can trap you in that cake if you do not free Elisebeth. She did not look a bit scared. I saw a pail of water next to her, so I picked it up. Then, I threatened to drench her with it if she didn’t do what I say. Now she looked scared and quickly chanted some words. I felt Elisebeth getting heavy so I set her down and POOF! She turned into her human self again. I slowly started to put the pail down and hugged Elisebeth. But then, the witch grabbed her broom. I had no other option but to drench her. Then I saw why she was so afraid of the water. I watched as she melted away, and her broomstick clattering on the ground. Elisebeth and I quickly ran back outside to the teleportation device. We safely reached home and hugged each other once more. We had done it, we defeated the witch so she can never come back and we saved Elisebeth! After that, we had to stay after school because we missed class and got scolded by our parents, but it was worth it. The End.

The Snowglobe

I am so bored, I thought. There was nothing to do at the yard sale except sit around and watch people buy stuff. Finally, Mom said to go and find more old items. I knew that I would find some old items in the attic. Once I got up, I saw a table, and on that table there was a dusty snowglobe. I knew it was the perfect thing to sell. So, I picked it up. As soon as I touched it, the snowglobe sucked me in!

I was speechless. I could not believe that I was actually inside a snowglobe! Now this is what you call fun!, I thought. So, because of my wonderful curiosity got the best of me, I decided to check the snowglobe out. There was a plastic snowman, some styrofoam balls that were made to look like snow, santa’s workshop which was made out of cardboard, and a lot of other things. But I was mostly interested in the snow. I threw it up in the air and then it fell and twirled around me. It was a dance of magic! I then got so occupied with the snow, I forgot all about the time.

Suddenly, I heard my mom calling. I totally forgot I was supposed to bring the items for the yard sale downstairs! I had to get out of this snowglobe before my mom thinks I am missing. But how…? I started to try everything, I kicked and punched the glass as hard as I could but nothing happened exept for having some sore feet and knuckles. I then tried to threaten the glass, only, there was no response back. I got very frustrated. I am never going to get out, I started thinking. In fact I got so angry that I felt like throwing something.  So I pulled the snowman out of the ground and threw him. Then, the sharp end of the snowman that kept him stuck to the ground touched the glass and broke through.

As, soon as I got out, I grabbed the box with items for the yard sale and ran downstairs. I ran outside and tried to come up with an explanation for my mom. I looked around. Then it hit me. “I was in the attic finding some really great stuff to sell,” I lied. It was not the best but my mom bought it and I lived happily without feeling bored ever again. The End.

The cookie fight – Diya Bansal

Once upon a time there were two very generous people but they still fought with each other. The person that sold ripe and juicy fruits was named Ron Winkle and the other person was Karen Deby who sold watches which were quite unique. One day as they were about to get cookies when they met up with each other. But because both wanted the cookie box they started fighting with each other. Then Ron had enough of their fight so he grabbed the cookie box and started throwing the cookies at Karen. Karen got mad so she picked up the cookies from the floor and started throwing the deliciously looking cookies at Ron. But the person who was the most angry was the chef. He said “ Why are you having a cookie fight without me”! So he joined the cookie fight and nobody remembered why everybody was mad so the chef put up the closed sign and they continued cookie throwing. Everybody was happy.

The End

The Annoying genie

Once upon a time in the kingdom of Atlantis, there lived a normal little girl. The girl’s name was Suzie and one day while she was dumping out the trash, she found 3 shiny things. The first thing was tinfoil, the second was a coin, and third was a… genie lamp! As she heard in stories all Suzie had to do was rub the lamp, so she did but nothing happened, then she remembered in all movies and stories she saw a speck of dirt on the lamp, so Suzie made the lamp dirty and… it worked! As she suspected a magical genie came out of nowhere. So Suzie made her first wish, “I wish for a mansion.” After a couple of minutes she said “Well magical genie are you going to grant my wish or not?” but Suzie didn’t know that the genie already granted her wish just not how she expected it. The genie said “I already granted your wish, you said you wanted a man’s chin”. Suzie looked down and was shocked, “I said a mansion not a man’s chin”, said Suzie. “Well why don’t you speak clearly, now if you’ll excuse me, I am getting a bit too bored” said the genie (who considered himself magical). So off he went to jump on the bed. Meanwhile Suzie was being greedy (when she could have been thinking to ask to get rid of her beard) so she wished for it to rain money, but the genie was not listening because he was busy jumping on the bed, so he just put a random spell on Suzie. Suzie again asked, “Are you going to grant my wish or not?” The genie replied, “I already did, now will you hurry up”. Suzie went to go look in the mirror just in case something else was wacky, and something else was. “A MUSTACHE”, Suzie yelled from across the hallway. The genie  was very surprised but acted like nothing had happened. As she came back she was very angry. In fact she was as red as an apple. Then she brightened up a bit because she got the best idea ever. “Genie I wish for you to never be found”, this time the genie was shocked but obeyed her and was never found again.

The End. DingDong, wait no that’s a different story for a different time. Now it’s a The End.

The mysterious book

The trail was barely visible but I could tell someone had been there recently. “Laura, Laura”, I cried trying to find out where she was. It was a dark and rainy night when Laura and I decided to explore the camp. So she went ahead trying to guide me, but we got split up. Just then I heard a familiar voice. “Lily, look what I found !” I quickly rushed to the sound of the voice, I knew I was close to finding her.

I quickly ran over to the big tree where I heard Laura’s voice. “I finally found you”, I panted. “What did you find ?” I asked. Laura revealed something that looked like a …book! Then she opened to a random page and started reading out loud, so I joined her. But suddenly the words started moving around and the ground shook. The book slipped out of her hands. Then we landed in a whole different world.

We looked around and saw tons of fairies, but as soon as I turned around a fairy saw me and gave me a ring. She said ,“You must be guests, we welcome you to our home!” She explained that the ring was a gift and took us on a tour of the land. Then she said, “Well it is time for me to leave, you shall be fine on your own”, and left us. I looked back at the ring, I knew it was special.

Just then Laura tugged on my arm. “Come on”, she said, “I think I know where the book is !”,and she dragged me back to where we landed in the first place. “Why are we here ?”,I asked. “Because the book slipped out of my hands over here” ,and she drew a circle with her foot, “And so that’s where we dig”. “Dig ?!!!”, I asked in shock, but Laura had already started so I had no choice but to dig with her. We dug for half an hour, and my hands were sore but then Laura gasped. I looked over and saw the book!

“Look there is a hole in the book”, I pointed out, “Maybe the ring fits in it”. “Great idea !” ,Laura said. So she tried to put it in, but it didn’t work. I looked around. “There must be something that we can put in the hole”, I thought. Just then I gasped, “There it is!” I said, “In that boy’s hand!” Laura and I went to the boy and asked for the stone, but he just laughed and said, “If you want this from me then you have to win it, how about a friendly archery competition” he said. I agreed, he had no chance of beating Laura in the competition. “Laura, you better be ready”, I said. “Wait a moment, I want you to compete with me” ,and the boy pointed at me. I panicked, I wasn’t ready. He handed me a bow, “Here”, he said.  We then started the competition. I lost the first round and the second, so there was no third round. After the competition the boy came up to me. “Here”,  he said and gave me the rock. You did a good job, you deserve it. I was shocked but I accepted the rock. “Thanks”, I replied. I just couldn’t believe it. I went up to Laura and showed her the stone. She grinned and took it from me and put it in the book. Then the book started glowing. I swiftly grabbed Laura’s hand and touched the book just in time, then we were back at camp.

“Look, no time has passed, and it’s still night!”, Laura said looking up at the shining stars. “Let’s never do that again”, I replied, “Also let’s go back to camp”. So after we got back to camp Laura quietly stored the book in her bag. Then we forgot about it and never touched it again, until…. “Remember that old book”, asked Laura, “Let’s go on another adventure…..”. So we went on another one but that is a different story. The End

The Hot-Air Balloon Ride

“We will start together on this adventure”, I reminded Lucy after the dance competition was over. We were going to go on our hot air balloon ride to look at the beautiful sites in Kansas so we can see them from above (the ride is our prize for winning) but I was starting to think that Lucy didn’t want to go… on the other hand Lucy loves adventures, my own mind was confusing me. We were now boarding the hot air balloon. “Yay, this is so exciting!”, I thought. Suddenly the clouds got all dark and raindrops were pouring out of the sky. Also there was such a strong wind and it blew Lucy and I all the way to the hidden jungle.

Now of course we didn’t know it was the hidden jungle until some animals started following us, though Lucy spotted them first and started talking in some weird language. Then I looked at her in disbelief. “You can talk to animals ?!!”, I asked, “Why didn’t you tell me”, “I can ?” Lucy said, clearly surprised. “Yes”, I said now getting annoyed, “Now could you ask them where we are ?”. “I already asked them, and they said we’re in the hidden jungle”. I gasped, the hidden jungle is known to be the most scary place in the whole wide world.

“Don’t worry, I was also shocked but the animals saw us flying through the air and got us a little home…”, she said as she trailed off. After she was done, I asked, “Well, where is this home you’re talking about”. “Follow that monkey”, she said and pointed to a monkey that was swinging from the branches. Apparently the monkey heard and saluted at her then he led us all the way to the house.

Once we got to the house, Lucy and I looked around. “Awesome”, Lucy said and punched the air, while I looked around and was speechless at the house’s beauty. Then the animals started talking to Lucy again and soon Lucy said, “Come on, the animals want to show us around”, I said, “Okay, lets see what they made”. So the animals showed us around, and just what they made amazes me, especially because nothing was made out of trees! Just as we settled into our beds, something roared in the distance, but that wasn’t the scary part, the scary part was that it was coming toward us!

Lucy gasped, “I’ll go and deal with it”, I said. “You sure?”, Lucy asked. “I’m positive”, I replied. So I went to deal with the lion, but I didn’t have to because it was on our doorstep. Luckly Lucy could see me through the window just in case something went wrong, but before I knew it I had turned into a bear and wrestled the lion.

“Woah”, said Lucy as I came back inside, “This is awesome, now we both have superpowers”! I had to agree this was awesome. “Oh I forgot to tell you but while we’re resting tonight the animals are going to find a safe place so we can get out of the jungle tomorrow”, she said to me, though I didn’t listen because I was already asleep.

The next day we set out to the passageway that the animals found during the night, and guess what? The animals found a trail that leads all the way back to Kansas! So we were on our way back to Kansas when suddenly I woke up! “I thought that was real”, I wondered aloud, “I better go and tell Lucy”. So I got out of bed and got dressed but I couldn’t find Lucy anywhere. I went outside hoping to find her (which I did) and told her my dream but she just giggled. “That wasn’t a dream, sily”, she said. “That wasn’t?”, I said, surprised. “Then I am never going to go on a hot air balloon ride ever again”, I shivered, “Never”.  The End.
